My schedule doesn't give me large chunks of time, so something as straightforward as painting a room with latex paint may take 2-3 days.

To keep the roller fresh, when I'm done for the moment, I spritz the roller with a little water and wrap it up in a plastic grocery bag. If it is going to be more than 24 hours before I can paint again, I put the bagged roller in the refrigerator.

Rollers kept this way will stay fresh for 3-5 days between painting sessions.

When I sold my house a few years back, we froze the rollers and brushes in heavy duty freezer bags between uses. Just remember to take the tools out about 30 minutes before you want to use them so they can thaw. We painted 5 rooms over the course of 3 weeks - never painted for more than an hour or two at a time.

I read about this a long time ago, except that the rollers were placed in the freezer and the whole family became deathly sick from eating meat that had been in the freezer at the same time.
I don't know about the type of paint, nor any other details, but I learned that chemical molecules from the paint will migrate through the pores in the plastic.

It was either in the Newspaper or Reader's Digest that I read about this event.
