Cheese Puffs

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf firm unsliced white bread - this can be bought in most bakeries or you can bake your own
  • 1 pkg. cream cheese (3oz.)
  • 1/4 lb. sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Directions

Trims crusts from bread; cut bread into 1 inch cubes. Melt cheeses and butter until somewhat smooth consistency. Remove from heat and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Dip bread cubes into cheese mixture until well coated; place on cookie sheet. Refrigerate overnight. Bake at 400 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until puffy and brown.

Hi, thanks for this recipe! For those of you who have never tried this, believe me this is the best cheese bread ever. About 20 years ago I was dating a guy whose mother used to make this and she would always give us a bag of the cheese bread frozen. I loved it but could never find the recipe. Can't wait to make this again, thanks so much!
