My daughter will be 13 in just over a month and can't decide what she would like to do. She wants to bring 2-3 close friends, but doesn't want to do basics like going ice skating, to the cinema, or a pool party, etc. She would prefer to go out and do something with her friends and then come back to the house and have food, play a few games, and maybe even a sleepover. We keep considering ideas and we are at a crossroads right now. Any help would be appreciated.

What you choose to do will depend on what is available in your area. Would the girls like an art museum or history museum? Is there an amusement park, a rollerskating arena, a rockclimbing wall, paintball, laser tag? (Some of these ideas need more than 3, but I am just brainstorming>) What about taking in some kind of live theatre or ballet or comedy show?
Are there tours of anything that they might find interesting such as a hospital, newspaper publishing office, etc. that you might set up for them. Maybe they would like to do some volunteer work, such as help out at an animal shelter. Is there a zoo or could you take them to a working farm? Perhaps something might be on like a garden show or a fashion show, and then they could go to a fancy restaurant for high tea? Some of these ideas are pretty far out, but I hope I have stimulated your imagination, and you will find something fun for all.
Louise, Thank you for your input. I am turning 13 and had no idea what to do but a high tea sounds lovely. And the is a high tea place near me so it would work perfectly, but I wouldn't have thought of it with out your help.
I have just turned 13 and i'm quite girly, but ziplining, quad biking and hiking can maybe work. We went to a chocolate factory and made chocolate for my party! It was AWESOME!
Thirteen is on the verge of becoming a woman, right? How about something to celebrate that fact? Pedicures, perhaps?
Agreed send them to the salon to get mani, pedi, hair done, and/or makeup (maybe get her friends moms to pay for their children?). Then send her to the mall with a gift card to her favorite store for a new outfit to go with her pampering.
What 13 year old girl (or any girl for that matter ) does not love horses? Find a riding stable and take her and her friends for a lesson. She will never forget it.
Take your daughter and her friends shopping and if she has money spare take her to the spa. Even if your daughter didn't want to go shopping she could just have a spa day.
well if she is a girly girl mabey a make over do her nails some make up dress up mabey a dance contest sound like she dose not have a high expectation so follow your instinks.
So this is super late but it works for 13 14 and 15 go rafting or kiaking. Camping is also super fun as a teen put the girls in a tent the boys in a tent and the parents. If this isn't what you are looking for try the lake (summer) or snowboarding (winter). Hope this helps

Well I'm 13 and what my mother did was she took me to a mall and let me enter the stores and buy a little here and there, but she would supervise me from a distance because I didn't want her interrupting. Then she drove me and my other two friends to an Italian restaurant and had ice cream after.
for my 13th I went shopping for the day with 3 friends, had tea out and came home for a sleepover. it was really fun and my mum slept as we were tired from the day
Maybe you could take them to a Dinner show like where you go and eat dinner and watch a play and then go home ,play games and watch a hallmark movie eat popcorn and icecream and go to bed maybe ask the parents to pay for there kids tickets

So where I live (I don't know about you) there's this thing where you can hire out a small cinema for really cheap and play your choice of film. If not, you could hire a projector.

What about the mall?? Each child could bring 30 so dollars and leave them there for a couple hours
Umm you could go to the mall or you could possibly go bowling and if she doesn't want to do that you can go to a fire thing roast marshmallows and come back to your house
One year we went to the local beauty school and all the girls had makeovers. I think it cost me $7 per girl. Another year one of daughters had her party at a live show which was interactive and they got pulled up on the stage and were part of the show.

I am turning 13 this year in 1 month, and like your daughter don't want to do basic things. Some of the things my mum is thinking of allowing me and some friends to do are: Go to the shops for a few hours (this depends on how much you trust your daughter)then have a sleep over, camp in the back yard, go to a nail salon/beauty spa. I know that not all of these will be ideal but maybe this will help.
As a 13 year old it's my birthday party in 2 days and I'm having a garden party with about 15 friends and then 3/4 of them are staying the night at my house I think this is a really good idea as not may teens like having party's at there houses but it's nice to have people embrace your home and get to know each other
I remember what I did for my 13th it was soooo fun I'm 17 now and still remember how fun it was we had a party from 6 and then had everyone leave by 12 . So it was a bit like a mini house party it was my first taste of being a teen having a teen party the room was dark but lit with fairy lights and disco balls and we cleared out all the furniture in the room to make space to dance to the music. we didn't have a "cake" but but we had all sorts of snacks the guests could just take whenever the wanted and the as soon as everyone left I had 2 girls stay the night . It was a blast and upstairs was off limits . I know this might be too wild for some of your 12 yo but my mum was so chill and it actually ended up fine
So maybe go to the animal shelter where she could and her besties could play with puppies, come back home and do some games and food. If your daughter is not a fan of puppies then she could take her friends to a theme park which would be the best adventurous bday ever, something her friends would remember.
