13th Birthday Party Ideas?

My daughter is turning thirteen in the spring and funds are very limited. She wants to invite about 6 friends and go to the movies. I'm fine with this, but I also might want to do something a little extra. Also, she wants to invite some friends from her Girl Scout troop, some from her new school, and some from her old school. I'm not sure if this is a good idea because it might be awkward.
