Black Stains Under Ceran Top Stove Surface?

I have a Kenmore electric stove, with a ceran schott glasstop. Under the glass there are black stains on 2 burners and I want to know what causes same. I replaced the top once already and a few months later there are black stains. There is absolutely nothing to scrape off as it is under the glass. Any help?
