Card Games For 6-8 People?

Does anyone know some card games for 6-8 people, anything except poker? We have lots of board games but Grandma and Grandpa prefer to play cards, actually so do I.

Hand and Foot is a great card game....you will need 2 decks of cards for each person though. Go to www.pagat.com/.../handfoot.html for instructions!

How about UNO, SkipBo, Crazy Eight both can be played by 6-8 people. Go online and search for card games. There should be tons of things out there.

A greart game for up 8 or 10 is "Cancellation Hearts" Here are the rules:

Cancellation Hearts is for seven to ten players. This version uses two decks. All the cards are dealt out. There is no passing and the queen of spades may be laid on the first trick. The first trick also takes the cards left over from the first deal. The reason that the game is called "Cancellation Hearts" is that when two like cards are played they cancel each other out for the purpose of taking the trick.

Thus, a trick where two Aces of the same suit are played, they will cancel each other out so that the next highest card takes the trick. This is a fun variation when you have a large number of people who want to play a game at the same table.
Even children quite young can play this.

Phase 10 is a fun rummy-type card game easy to learn. You can pick up a pack for under $10 at any discount store

We've often played a game called "Tic". Any number of people can play - you just add another deck of cards as needed. Jokers are kept in the deck. You start off with everyone getting 3 cards. The dealer turns over the top card. The person to the left of the dealer can either pick up that card or draw a different one; then they need to discard one card (always keeping 3 cards in their hand).

The idea is to "meld" all your cards together with (at least) three-of-a-kind or a run of three in the same suit. The first time 3's are wild (because there are 3 cards) and jokers are also wild. The first one to meld all their cards together yells "tic" and lays the cards down for others to see. Everyone else gets one more chance (pick a card and discard one), and then they have to add up all the points they can't meld together and those points count against them. The lowest score at the end of the game wins. If there are aces, jokers, or other wild cards that can't be melded together, those count as 15 points.
In the second round four cards are dealt and 4's are wild; then 5, 6, ... 10, 11 (Jack's are wild), 12 (Queen), 13 (King), 14 (Ace), and finally 15 cards are dealt with 2's being wild. The toughest hands are ones with four and five cards, because you need to get at least three-of-a-kind or a run of three in the same suit, but in these cases you actually need to get four or five-of-a-kind or a run to be able to meld everything in your hand. After those hands (6 cards), you can split into more groups (e.g. J, Q, K of hearts and 5, 5, 5).

The more people you have play, the longer it will take to finish a complete game, but it's a lot of fun and simple enough that a variety of ages can play...

We also play 'hand & foot' in our camping group and just love the game. We use one deck per person. It's usually the ladies against the men and, of course, the ladies always win. We did find that when the men won, they cheated.

Enjoy the game; it's lot of fun.

We play ''Tic'', but a bit different. We do NOT say Tic, when we lay down, hoping to fool someone into not laying down all that they can, and getting stuck with a lot of points. We also count any WILD card still in their hands after melding what they can, whether it be a joker or the number at the time, 50 points, instead of 15, with face cards counting 10 and all others at face value.

Lots of fun and competition here, even for little kids.

Skip Bo is really fun! And Mexican Train Dominoes is really fun! I have a game group that meets twice a month and we often play these, along with Cribbage and Rummy-O.
