Caring for Grasshoppers?

Yesterday, my friends and I found 9 grasshoppers. How do I take care of them and keep them alive? One more thing; how do I tell the gender of the grasshoppers?

Well I hope your grasshoppers are still living but if not you can get better prepared and catch some more (or one might be better).

  • Housing can be in many homemade things so have a home ready for your grasshoppers.
  • Take a large jar and after you get it ready and have your grasshopper ready, just place some saran wrap over the top (or wax paper in a pinch), poke several holes for air and fasten down with a large rubber band.
  • You could also use a plastic box (shoe box?) and put some sort of netting over the top until you can fix something better.
  • There are a lot of YouTube videos showing how to take care of grasshoppers so you want to check those out.
