Use canned crab just like you would fresh.
Fresh is always tastier than canned but crab is crab ;-) Go to this link and peruse recipes from the best known chefs and choose one or two that have flavorings that sound good to you. Whether a recipe calls for a half a pound or a full pound of crab you can figure out the amount of cans of crab needed by remembering there are 16 ounces in a pound. If a recipe calls for a pound and you don't want to make that many crab cakes just reduce the entire recipe ingredient amounts evenly according to just how many you want to make.
