The completed crocheted ring.I like to come up with unusual jewelry. This time I decided to crochet a ring from yarn. I used simple instant glue to keep the ring in shape. I noticed this property of instant glue to quickly make fabric and threads/yarn hard, and began to use it in my craft projects. I am the author of this idea, I hope you will like it too.

You will need to know how to make:
chain (ch),
double crochet (dc),
popcorn stitch with 5 dc (pc),
slip stitch (sl st),
finish off crochet.

Total Time: 30 Minutes + time to dry

Supplies:

  • yarn
  • crochet hook
  • scissors
  • instant glue
  • cylindrical object with a diameter equal to the diameter of the ring
  • duct tape

Steps:

  1. Crochet 8 ch (5 ch + 3 lift ch).
  2. Crocheting a yarn ring.

  3. In the sixth loop, crochet 1 pc, skip 1 loop, 1 ch, 1 dc.
  4. Crocheting a yarn ring.

  5. 3 ch (for lift), skip 1 loop, 1 pc, 1 ch, 1 dc. Turn it and repeat this step until you have crocheted a strip of the desired length for the ring.

  7. Connect the ends of the strip with sl st. Finish off crochet.

  9. Wash the crocheted ring to block it, let it dry well.
  10. Stick the duct tape onto the cylindrical object. Slip the crocheted ring on top. Make sure the edges of the ring are straight. Soak the yarn on all sides with instant glue and leave until the glue dries and the yarn hardens. Remove the ring.
  11. Gluing the crocheted ring.

For this project I used a 1.5 mm crochet hook (#7 in US) and white polyester thread yarn "Atlas". On the donut ball of yarn is written only No.50, 20 g (and something in Turkish).

I found such donut balls on sale, sellers write 20 g/190-200 m, which corresponds to 100 g/950-1000 m or 50 g/475-500 m.
