My washing machine stopped working once it got to the spin cycle. Now it just makes a noise like it's trying to spin, but it doesn't. Is this fixable or should I just buy a new washing machine?

Mostly likely it can be repaired for less money than a new machine. If it is 10 years old you may think about a new machine. It maybe the belt has broken or something wrong with the pulley. (02/16/2011)
It sounds like a belt. We just fixed our dryer belt. We got the instructions on line for how to go about doing this. Put in you washer model and year, It should be on the back of the washer. You can find the directions on line. (02/17/2011)
