Getting Seeds From a Pine Cone

I collected some pine cones while at my wife's parents' home. Just found out that I may have picked up the wrong type of cones. I was hoping to grow some pine trees. From what I just read on pine cones, they have to be closed. All of the pine cones that I picked up were open. Can someone please show me a picture of the right type of cone to get, so that I can pass this on to my wife's parents.

This one is partially open. Even if you can find one like this one, there are likely still seeds unreleased in the top portion. Best wishes with your tree! (01/05/2010)

Hard to tell from the pic for me, but is that a pine?
