No the bugs don't normally bite. They are small beetles and are in the beetle family. Normally they love to eat fibers from your carpets. You will need to set out some flypaper to trap them and get rid of them. You will also need to vacuum your home daily and throw the bag out in the trash when done.
From what I can tell after blowing up your picture, this is of the beetle family. Here is more info on beetles- en.wikipedia.org/
