Ink on Faux Leather

How can I get ball point ink from my faux leather couch and handbag?

Hairspray works great to get out ink - spray some on a cloth and apply to the marks, rub a little and it should come out. Rub with a wet cloth to get the sticky hairspray off afterward. Good luck. (11/15/2006)

Blotting and/or rubbing rubbing alcohol on ink spots worked pretty well on my med. gray faux leather purse, but there was a very little smudge afterwards. However, I think I'm the only one that notices it. I then used some hairspray as suggested above for another tiny little ink spot on the same purse, but it did not work for me, nor did magic eraser on other spots.
