These cute little bird nests are a fun treat to make with kids on Easter. They are easy to make and are delicious!

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • cookie icing
  • candy grass or dyed coconut (green)
  • jellybeans or any egg shaped candies

First prepare the Rice Krispies as follows:

Using a large pan, heat butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add Rice Krispies a cup at a time and stir until well coated.

Making the nests:

Take a golf ball sized piece of rice krispies and form into a round pancake shape. Gently work it into a cupped shape to form the nest. It should look like a tiny bowl. Put a small amount of cookie icing in the center and then fill with candy grass or coconut. Add candies to the nest for the eggs.

Everyone loves Rice Krispy treats. Our theme this month was birds. So for our dessert hour, I made Rice Krispy treats and put them into a cupcake pan, forming them to look like birds nests. I put them in the refrigerator to keep them cool and added 2 jelly beans to look like the eggs. Everyone thought they were cute and loved eating them.
