You can make this cute pendant necklace using a plastic bottle cap, glitter, glue, and a paperclip. Working with layers of glue and glitter gives it nice depth. It makes me so happy to make new things out of random stuff around the house!

Total Time: 1 hour

Yield: 1 pendant necklace

  • 1 plastic bottle cap
  • 1 small paperclip
  • wirecutter
  • hot glue gun with glue
  • glitter (large and fine)
  • pliers
  • jump ring
  • chain necklace
  • clear craft glue
  • clear nail polish or clear craft sealer

  1. Open up one end of your paperclip. Very carefully heat the tip using a flame (I used a lighter) then poke 2 holes on the side of the bottle cap the same width of the paper clip.

  3. Cut the paperclip so you're left with a long U-shaped piece.
  4. Poke the 2 ends of the U into the holes you just made in the cap.
  5. Fill the cap 2/3 the way with hot glue, making sure to get all around the clip.
  6. Very quickly pour some of your large glitter over the hot glue before it sets.

  8. Place a bit more hot glue on top of the glitter.
  9. Quickly sprinkle with fine glitter. Tap off the excess.
  10. Open up your jump ring with your pliers. Hook onto the paper clip piece, then string on the chain necklace.
  11. Add a thin layer of clear craft glue to the surface of the pendant and sprinkle on a bit more large glitter.

  14. Allow to dry for a few hours.
