I save caps from my water bottles because they're always the same brand, making them completely uniform, therefore nice for crafts. This is a light I made from trash, basically. It's just a bunch of bottle caps and a plastic container from a miniature baking set. I put it together then stuffed it with a string of mini LED lights, as they don't get hot. Give this a try. It's practically free! If you don't have LED lights, you can stuff it with a vibrant scarf to make a cute contemporary art piece.

Total Time: 1 hour

Yield: 1 light

Supplies:

  • 1 clear plastic container
  • several white plastic bottle caps
  • hot glue gun with glue
  • tweezers
  • mini LED lights
  • coloured scarf (optional)

Steps:

  1. Without gluing anything down, set the bottle caps on one side of the plastic container to get an idea of how they fit.
  2. Add small dabs of hot glue to the edges of a cap.
  3. Press onto the container. Continue gluing them on.
  4. Continue gluing them onto other sides, and the top portion.
  5. Take some tweezers and remove any stringy dried hot glue hairs.
  6. Place the LED lights inside and turn it on. Alternatively, (or during the daytime) fill it with a nice coloured scarf. Looks cool!
