Mattress Reviews and Advice

I really need to buy a new queen size mattress and box springs and have not done this in awhile. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best mattress to buy and where to buy? Thank you for any help!

Sleep Number Bed

We finally bit the bullet and spent the money for a Sleep Number bed system, and with the benefits we are getting, we should have done it decades ago! The only thing that stopped us was the expense, which was about $2,300 buying it through the company's outlet system. We went into one of their stores to learn about the system and have them figure out what our "numbers" were initially, but it would have been so much more expensive buying it through the showroom. The advantages of this system to us are incredible - no more problems with pressure points, waking up dozens of times a night to try to get comfortable on our old mattresses, sore backs, etc.

Because my husband now rests so much more comfortably, his snoring has even decreased and he isn't flopping all over the bed, which also woke me up. We knew we had made the right choice when we had to spend three nights in a high-quality motel but didn't sleep or rest well at all. All Radisson hotels now have Sleep Number beds and that's where we will be staying from now on. (05/17/2006)

Sterns and Foster

My husband and I just love our Sterns and Foster. When we have to buy another - that is the only brand we will be buying. good luck! (05/17/2006)

Denver Mattress

We had a very pricey 2,500.00 Simmons and it was firm and the owner of the store was not a decent person so we kept it a few years but it never got better. This past month we got a Denver Mattress called Telluride and it is the best. It's like sleeping on a cloud and so restful, go in and really lay on them before you choose. We did this before picking. Good luck and sweet dreams. (05/17/2006)

Sleep Number Bed

We have a sleep number bed. My husband has had three back surgeries and is awaiting disc fusion now because his job was brutal on his back. With all the changes his body went through on a daily basis, it was great to have a bed that could adjust to his needs. (05/17/2006)

Sleep Comfort

I had a Sleep Comfort bed and never could get it comfortable. Total waste of money for me. I now sleep on one of those air mattresses you use for guests. It's the best sleeping I've found and considering they cost less than $50 for queen it's cheap to replace. They do have to have the air increased over time because they stretch out. Eventually they'll pop a seam if you just get the really cheap ones. The Eddie Bauer will last much better, but of course they cost more too. It's naturally hard to keep sheets on the air beds because of their light weight, but I quit using sheets long ago.

I just use a good comforter (not the fluffy kind) with the decorative side down and another one on top with the decorative side up. I sleep between them. Perfect weight too. They are so soft and smooth and don't wrinkle up on you like sheets. I use those mattress connector things that are elastic and are made to keep sheets from untucking on both the top and bottom comforter (just the bottom corners of the top one) As cheap as these air beds are, you can afford to get one and try it out for yourself. If you don't happen to like it, just save it for company. Of course they may never leave. (05/25/2006)
