In your question you state "this year" so do you mean it has bloomed in prior years or has your tree never bloomed?
Do you know how old your Mimosa tree may be?
How tall is your tree?

A lot of different things will determine when your tree will produce it's first pods/blooms but with proper care should continue to bloom each year after that happens.

In general, a mimosa will not bloom until it is approximately 10 feet tall. Each tree grows to this height at different rates, based on soil nutrients and moisture availability. Additionally, the mimosa must be old enough to have extensive branches for blossom development.

Blooming may be delayed on your mimosa tree if it is located improperly in your yard, regardless of its age. For example, a heavily shaded location hinders photosynthesis, so choose a location away from buildings and taller trees. Without this energy production, the tree does not have the strength to create multiple blossoms.
Consistently moist soil, along with full sunlight, contributes to normal summer blossoming along with a possible additional fall flower formation come November.
Feed your seedling with a 10-10-10 fertilizer that has been diluted in half.

Mimosa trees usually grow best in USDA zone 6 - 10. You do not say where you live but if you would like to know your USDA zone you can check at this site.
