New Year Meringue Cookies

These sweet colorful cookies are today's special craft. I made this for New Year's Eve and again made especially for the kids since we have plenty of kids at home to celebrate with us.

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. To make a meringue, beat eggs with cream of tartar until foamy. Start adding the corn starch, then gradually add sugar, about 1 tablespoon in each addition while constantly beating mixture.
  2. Continue beating until soft peaks form. The meringue will also start turning a silky white color. Then you'll know it's ready as it looks very stiff.
  3. Position pastry bag open in a tall glass.
  4. Dip toothpick in food coloring.

  6. Draw different lines/strips of food color inside the bag.
  7. Fill bag with meringue.
  8. Squeeze meringue on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  9. Since it's for new year, I added 2020 figures.
  10. Bake in a 200 degree F oven for 10-15 minutes. But see to it that they don't turn brown.

  12. After the oven timer stops. Let rest inside oven for an extra hour.
  13. Serve and have a great New Year celebration.
