Paper and Drinking Straw Rockets - paper rocketsThey are easy to make and fun to play with. Kids will love this simple toy which is similar to the old fashioned pea shooter, but a lot safer! Pop a rocket on the end of a drinking straw and blow. You'll be surprised how far they travel.

  7. Slide the paper off as soon as possible because you don't want it to accidentally stick to the straw.
  8. Paper and Drinking Straw Rockets - remove to prevent it sticking to the straw

  9. When the glue has dried, cut the paper tube into short lengths of about 2.5 inches (6cm).
  10. Paper and Drinking Straw Rockets - several paper tubes and the straw

  11. Take one paper tube and add a tiny drop of glue to one end.
  12. Paper and Drinking Straw Rockets - add a bit of glue to one end of the paper tube as shown

  13. Squeeze the end flat.

  15. Repeat for all the paper tubes. Make as many as you like - the more the merrier! These little tubes are your rockets.
  16. Paper and Drinking Straw Rockets - several ready and in process rockets

  17. To fire a rocket place it on the end of the straw and blow the other end. If it doesn't fire, this might be because the rocket isn't sealed properly. If so, apply some extra glue to the seams. Sometimes it won't fire if you push it onto the straw too far and it wedges on. Place the rocket on the straw only lightly.

    Have fun!
  18. Paper and Drinking Straw Rockets - if rocket fails to fire check seams and add more glue as needed
