Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Cut a strip of paper to fit the width of the box.

  3. Apply glue to one end of the strip.

  5. Wrap the paper around the box and stick down the end.

  7. Cut another piece of paper in the same colour to fit the tray of the box.

  9. Glue and stick this piece of paper inside the tray.

  11. To make the spring, cut a narrow strip of paper from the short edge of a sheet of A4 paper (or the long edge of A5 paper).

  13. Cut the strip in half.

  15. Glue the ends of the strips together, one on top of the other and positioned at a right angle.

  17. Fold the bottom strip over the top one keeping it at right angles.

  19. Fold the other strip over in the same manner.

  21. Keep folding one then the other and you will see a little spring starting to form.

  23. When you get to the end, stick down the last fold with glue.

  25. To make Jack, cut a circle of paper.

  27. Add a happy smile with a pen or marker.

  29. Use glue to add the wiggle eyes.

  31. Glue the head to the spring and glue the spring inside the tray.

  33. When you are sure all the glue is dry and the pieces are secure you can squish Jack down and close the box. If the glue doesn't work very well, an adult can use a stronger glue.

  35. Open the box and Jack will pop up and wiggle his eyes at you making you smile.
