Do not use hot water. Use cold soapy water and roll the stained part with your fingers. It should roll off the jacket. If necessary soak overnight. Also keep changing the water so you don't 'repaint' the jacket.

How would you remove black face paint from a micro suede vest? My grandson had his face painted and then fell asleep on my shoulder. His cheek left a black smudge on my light colored micro suede vest. The vest is washable or dry cleanable, but I am scared to try anything at this point.

You could try some cornstarch. Layer a little bit on your vest, and rub slightly. Let it sit for a while and then dust off. Cornstarch is good at absorbing messes. I used it on a suede skirt I had that was nearly ruined when I sat on something. It worked very well.
