Rodent Smell in Garage?

I think I have a dead rodent in my garage, but my question relates to differing temperatures. It seems that when the garage is cold the smell is worse because when I run my clothes dryer the smell seems to disappear. Why is this? I would think it would be the opposite.

Your dryer's heat, detergent, conditioner, spinning, etc., create odors that can easily mask a rodent smell; for a while. The heat only will certainly increase the odor.

If you cannot locate the dead rodent, you may need a pest company to remove it. The sooner the better-the decay process releases decaying liquids that will easily seep into wood, dry wall, etc., and will then smell forever. The only solution then is to remove the affected area and replace the structures.
