Sautéed Lettuce

Gold Post Medal for All Time! 677 Posts

A dinner plate containing potatoes, meatballs and sauteed lettuce.DH bought way too much Romaine lettuce, so I stir fried one head with an onion and two cloves of garlic. I added the last bit of pasta sauce to use it up. It was delicious. I think it would work with any kind of lettuce.

Next time I'll
add extra butter instead of tomato sauce to switch it up.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Yield: 3 servings

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Chop all the vegetables.
  2. Heat oil in a 12-inch skillet.
  3. Sauté the onion and garlic a couple of minutes, then add the lettuce.
  4. A pan of chopped romaine lettuce.

  5. Sauté until the lettuce is soft, but not mushy.
  6. A pan of sauteed romaine lettuce.

  7. Season with salt and pepper. Add the tomato sauce if using. Cook about a minute more to heat the sauce.

I will definitely try this. We always have too much lettuce and it goes into compost... What a waste.

I love all kinds of salad greens and usually buy too much so this is something I will have to try soon.
Thanks Judy - hope all is well with you and your family.

I always love to add lettuce to my ramen. I like to cook my ramen by adding boiling water to a bowl with the ramen in it, put a plate on top and let it sit for about 4 minutes. I like to add the lettuce just before eating.
