Stick of Butter Outside of the U.S.

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 254 Posts

A package of butter from New Zealand. Here on ThriftyFun, we have a lot of questions that come up about how much is in a stick of butter. Some recipes in the U.S. call for a "stick" of butter, which is confusing to people coming from other countries where butter often comes in blocks without tablespoon markings.

Also, within the U.S. a stick is not a standard size brand to brand. Some brands sell 8 Tbsp. sticks and others sell 4 Tbsp. sticks.

Since I am currently living outside of the United States, I thought I would share with the Thriftyfun community what the butter I buy here looks like. The butter I can get is imported, coming from either France or New Zealand.
