Tender Yogurt Spice Chicken on eggplant on plateThis Indian inspired chicken is marinated in a mix of wonderful spices and yogurt. Most of the work is in the marinade. Then just cook, and enjoy. I like this with roast eggplant and a side of rice. This recipe uses Garam Masala seasoning. You can use store-bought, or use the link below to my recipe for a homemade batch.

Prep Time: 15 minutes plus marinating time

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Measure out all the salt and spices in a medium bowl.

  3. Mix very well.

  5. Place all the spices, the yogurt, and the chicken in a big freezer bag and toss around to coat well. Place in fridge to marinate for at least 8 hours.
  6. Chicken in bag with marinade

  7. Preheat oven to 400 F. Lay chicken pieces on a greased sheet pan and bake for about 30 minutes.
  8. Chicken ready to bake

This looks wonderful but I have never heard of Garam Masala; is it a hot spice? I will be looking for it as I would like to give this recipe a try.

Hi MB! Garam Masala isn't really too spicy, but it has black pepper in it so it does get a kick from there, and quite a bit of depth from the other spices. It's basically cumin, coriander, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg mixed together. Here is my recipe if you'd like to try to make your own:
