Truck Heater Gives Off Bad Smell?

I have a 1994 GMC Sierra with new A/C evaporator installed six years ago. The A/C works great with no bad odor. When the heater is turned on, the air has a bad odor. The odor continues (forever) during the winter. What could cause this?

leaky heater core, antifreeze around the heater core, replace or flush the system.
