Using Canesten on a Dog with an Inverted Vulva?

Can I use Canesten on my dog's lady bits? I have had her to the vet's and been given Isaderm. She has a slightly inverted vulva that gets raw. Nappy cream and Isaderm aren't helping. Please help I'm at the breaking point. The vet doesn't want to operate on her as it's not bad enough to warrant it.

I would not use anything on a dog without the vet's OK. If you don't like this vet, get a second opinion.

Three vets are a lot and clearly nothing is working so perhaps you need to move from a traditional vet to one who is more holistic.

Do you have holistic vets in your town? Our vet is and she often has the best solutions for situations like this.

Yikes...it sounds like it is time to find a new vet!! There are many out there who are willing to work with you to find the best solution so ask all of your friends and family who they use and get a second opinion.

I NEVER use anything on my fur boy without the vet OK. He is very sensitive to things and I am always afraid of making any situation worse.

Saying prayers for healing for your pup!! Let me know what the new vet says!!

You dont say what the Vet is treating her for exactly. So it is hard to know if a specific drug would work. Canestin is clotrimazole that is used for athletes foot or yeast infections. There are just too many unknowns to begin trying this and that. You might find yourself with a bigger problem than you started with.

You need to go back to your Vet and let them know what you have been given is not working. Clearly this is a frustrating situation, but you dont want to make it worse. I think a holistic Vet might be a good idea too. Good luck to you.
