Using Coffee Tubs for Fabric Storage

Using Coffee Tubs for Fabric Storage - stack of cans filled with fabric with a short piece of wood under the bottom row to give back tiltI get a lot of these from recycling and my friends save them for me, too. This is just what I had empty so I am going to keep going, but I ran into a snag. So here's the tip and a cautionary warning.

I used clear tape because I didn't have any duct tape. I highly recommend you use the duct tape. It will stick better and last longer.

But, for today's tip, I taped them together in groups of two, then four. Then I taped them on the bottom and then around the edges.

Because I wanted them to sit up a bit, I placed two scrap pieces of wood underneath the front only. Then I stacked and taped a second row of shorter tubs and filled them with fabric in rolls, squares, and strips.

When I get some more tape, I will redo this and keep going till I have a tower. For stability I will hot glue burn a hole or use a nail and hammer to secure them to the wall as I go up, just one per row of 4 should do it.

But for now...this is an idea you can use on shelves, too. N-JOY!!

Zip ties would be good for this

I might try Zipties for this.

Binder clips would work well to clip them together, too. I just didn't have any large enough. But if you have good duct tape that is what I eventually used. Thanks!!

I had been saving these for this purpose. Only instead of fabric I planned to use them for my shoes. My husband didn't grab the concept. Bye bye canisters. I am re-accumulating them.
