I need a little more info to help you.

Is this framed or unframed? If it is unframed, how has it been stored? If it was rolled, how bad is the roll--meaning does it lay flat on its on or not.

If it is framed, what kind of frame is it in? Wood? If so--what type or is it a gilt color? Glass or plexiglass cover?

Just to verify this is a print, correct, not an actual painting?

There are so many variations with TK items that it is hard to give any kind of value without knowing exactly what you have.

Also, where are you located? Value is dependent on location in most cases.

Post back with more and I will do my best to help you value your piece.

Thanks!

Thank you for your time and help with this. Its very nice of you.
It is framed. I was told the original buyer framed himself. It looks like mahogany or cherry wood. No glass or cover. It has been stored in a closet wrapped in a blanket. It looks to be in super excellent condition. Selling ready if that makes sense. It says "112/500 E/P Canvas. There is a Certificate of Limitation & Authenticity. On the Certificate (?) it says "This Limited Edition Lithograph was additionally Hand-Highlighted by a Thomas Kinkade Master Apprentice".

The Master Apprentice is "Dorothy Jackson". I am located in Southern California in the High Desert by Palmdale or Bakersfield if that's more familiar to you.
Again, Thank you for your information so far and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Hello again! I forgot to tell you it is signed by Thomas Kinkaid on the painting and the certificate (?) by the master apprentice. And there is also the Certificate of Limitation & Authenticity and on this it has the "112/500 E/P Canvas, the size and the #. That was sorta confusing to me after I reread it!

Hi and thanks for locating additional info.

The good news is that in the world of TK, the items with the E/P (Examination Proof) are typically made in smaller numbers which in the world of "mass produced limited edition" items is good.

I neglected to ask paper or canvas, so I can give you a good website that has RETAIL values for your print various incarnations.

Retail value is in the $1,000 range (higher or lower depending on paper or canvas) AND framed would be approx another $300. Here's the link:

www.christcenteredmall.com/.../city_by_the_bay.htm

That said, this is RETAIL VALUE, meaning what you would pay if you bought it in the store now. You need the RESALE value.

Resale value is going to be a different animal. Based on sales of similar items (SOLD prices not asking prices) you may be able to fetch up to $500 depending on where you are and the supply and demand in your area. In some areas this may be higher, in some much lower to as low as 1/4 to 1/8 of retail.

My suggestion to get you the best chance of maximizing your sale is to contact as many art galleries and resale shops in your town as you have, and asking them what they would expect to fetch in their venue.

Also find out what the percentage split would be for you and them.

Selling large items online is a nightmare for the average person because packaging it is a huge challenge, shipping charges are going to be outrageous based on the new USPS DIM (dimensional shipping costs where the size of the package figures into the overall weight of the package).

Selling a large item like this in an in person setting lends to fraud and scams--meaning people on whichever "in person" venue you use try to cheat you out of the money and/or the item. Then there is having people traipsing in and out of your home to look at the item.

Working with a venue like a gallery or store will help you sell the item in way that you will get the most for your picture and in the safest way.

Thanks for sharing and for getting back to me with the additional info. Post back with details of your sale.
