What Is This Houseplant? - tropical plant with banana or canna like leaves I picked up this plant because it looked like it could do with a little bit of tlc, but I have no idea what it is! Does anybody know? Thank you!

It is a canna plant. Here's how to care for it:

Keep the temperature around it to 70 to 75 degrees
Don't keep it near an air vent as not to let it dry out
Give it sufficient light
Mist it once a day with lukewarm water

From the photo, I also believe this is a Canna Lily but an exact name will have to wait until you have a flower.

Canna Lilies come in several sizes and a multitude of different flowers as well as different color leaves.

Lilies can be planted outside in several zones but also grow well in pots.
Cannas do best with a good supply of water, so water the plants when soil feels dry.
Whether indoors or outdoors it is best to keep a thin layer of mulch around cannas to help retain moisture.
Lilies take well to daily misting but still water when soil is dry.
