I tried a cure where you put mayonnaise on the ring spot for 15 minutes, then wipe it off. Afterwards you polish the area with a mix of baking soda and water, then wipe it off. This worked amazingly well on my very old and horrid heat stain.

You can put several layers of material and use a hot, dry iron. this will remove the stain.
