Baking Powder Biscuit Recipes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup margarine

  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions

Sift together flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, salt and sugar. Cut in margarine. Add egg and milk. Knead for 5 minutes. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake for 10 minutes at 450 degrees F.

Sift dry ingredients together into bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add milk, stirring until just mixed. Knead lightly, on floured surface, 6-8 times.

Pat out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with floured cutter, placing 1/2 inch apart on baking sheet.
