Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions

Sift together flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, salt and sugar. Cut in margarine. Add egg and milk. Knead for 5 minutes. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake for 10 minutes at 450 degrees F.

So easy to make and the ingredients are things most of us keep on hand all the time. Very good, fluffy, warm biscuits!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions:

Sift flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar and sugar; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Ad

Add milk all at once. Stir until dough follows fork around in the bowl. Pat or roll 1/2 inch thick; cut with a biscuit cutter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.

Servings: about 2 doz. biscuits
Prep Time: 15-20 Minutes
Cooking Time: 45 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

Sift dry ingredients together into bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add milk, stirring until just mixed. Knead lightly, on floured surface, 6-8 times. Pat out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with floured cutter, placing 1/2 inch apart on baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees F for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 10 biscuits.
