Removing Odors from an Old Wardrobe?

I have recently bought an old wooden wardrobe. It is beautiful, but inside it smells of vomit. I was told to put a dish of bicarb of soda in it, but this hasn't worked. Any suggestions please?

Have you considered sealing the inside of the cabinet with a coat of clear polyurathane?

You might need to sprinkle bicarb soda all around the inside of the wardrobe and close up the doors for a day. Keep replacing the bicarb until the smell disappears.

Also, washing the whole thing down with bicarb mixed with water will hopefully get the smell out of the wood fibres themselves.

I had good luck with a trunk that smelled by leaving it in the sun a few days (bring in at night). Also, you might dry: unwrapped bars of soap, charcoal, clean cat litter, and a good scrubbing with something like Murphy's Soap. Good luck.
