Is there something I can use to clean my rusty jumper cables so that I will have a good contact when using the cables to start another car?

Try soaking them in a carbonated soda like coke or pepsi for about 15 minutes and then take a wire brush to them, once they are cleaned and rinsed put a thin coat of vasoline on them!
