Kitchen Utensil Holder

Kim Davis

I bet you never thought about using a flower pot to hold your kitchen utensils! This project is so easy. It won't take but a few minutes. This is the perfect utensil holder. It won't burn if you forget and leave it sitting on the stove. It won't tip over and it holds a lot of tools! You can custom match it to your kitchen decor.

Supplies:

  • one 6 inch clay pot
  • enamel paint (any color)
  • decals or paint to decorate if you wish
  • paintbrush (if you brush the paint or if you paint a design)

Directions:

Just get a 6 inch clay flower pot and paint it any color you wish. I recommend enamel paint because it makes clean up from kitchen splatters easier. It may take more than one coat because the clay is very porous and absorbs the paint. Let the paint dry. Then you can apply decals. If you are artistic you can paint on a design. If you prefer, you can use a stencil. Use your imagination.

This craft would make a cute wedding shower or housewarming gift filled with all kinds of tools. Apple Kitchen Utensil Holder - white painted flowerpot with red apple design

This is actually a very good idea. We did this a few years back, where my daughter stenciled shells on the pot! The picture you share is very pretty! Nice Job!

Very cute idea. A few years back I went to a pottery business near here and purchased a slightly less than perfect crockery type pot. I can't really tell there was anything wrong with it, but I got it at a great price.

It works great as well for holding all of my bigger kitchen utensils.

Great idea. I love this website and newsletter. I read it all faithfully. I like the idea of filling it with utensils and giving it as a household shower gift, as well. The possibilities with this are endless, I think. Thank you for sharing.

I have mine in a crock as well, or I could show you my idea. But I think it's pretty self explanatory so here goes. Get one of the inexpensive towel racks like the photo, and simply put some "S" hooks on it and hang the utensils on the hooks.

I didn't have hooks once, and just pried colored plastic covered large paper clips backward and used them. You can also use drapery hooks, but their points can be sharp. I like the "S" hooks because they hang straighter.

Hope this helps!

I love the painted plant pot idea! I've been using a tall vase for years. I also love the idea of the towel rack and S hooks for hanging things. That's a great idea and I'm going to do that in my kitchen.
