Attosa's Skinny Zebra Cake

Finished cake with a slice on plate in foreground. Here is my recipe for a super simple cake that is not only low in calories and high in flavor, but so cool to look at! It's just a few ingredients and such an easy technique. You will have so much fun making this and eating it. This is the recipe for the cake part itself. In the photo I made a matching zebra fondant to cover it and put chocolate icing between the layers and under the fondant. :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 (18.25 oz.) box of any cake mix (I used white cake for high contrast)
  • 1 cup of plain or flavored Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup of water
  • 8 drops of black food coloring

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease your cake pan (or two if you're making a layered cake).

Mix package of cake mix, 1 cup Greek yogurt and 1 cup water. Beat until smooth. Divide into two batches.

Add black food coloring to one batch and stir until color is solid. Pour a tiny bit of one color batter in your pan, then the other in the center. Keep alternating until you have both colors back and forth until you've filled the pan. Adding white batter to pan. View of several layers and adding more white batter.

Bake as directed on the box. Baked cake with zebra stripes.
