Re-Dying Hair?

I dyed my hair a reddish-orange color yesterday with a dark and lovely permanent hair dye. My natural hair is almost black with some grey. My hair color turned completely orange where the grey was and the darkest brown where my black hair is. I need to dye it again. Is it okay to dye it again 1 day later.
