I was having trouble opening a hard plastic package containing my new emergency window hammer. Then I thought of trying to use a manual can opener. I wore some light gardening gloves to retrieve the item. I think with a sharper can-opener I could have gone all around the pack and lifted up the plastic, making it a lot safer.

I purchased a cheap can-opener for 44p, and now opening the packs are easier. Cuts all around the packaging then you have easy and safe access to the item. I am going to keep that one for just that job.

I saw this idea posted on another site and tried it. All it accomplished was to destroy the blade on my can opener :-(

This is an excellent idea. I get very frustrated trying to open thing packaged like this.
