What Breed Is My Dog?

What Breed Is My Dog?I adopted Freddy through a shelter and was told he was a Sheepdog/Shetland Sheltie mix, but I don't the similarity. I was wondering if anyone would have an idea about what breed/mix he might be. He is 14 weeks old.

Considering the dog is still a puppy it is harder to tell the breed or mixed breed of your puppy.

  1. Take the dog to the vet and start his series of vaccinations. He will need them to protect him against the parvovirus and other illnesses.
  2. While there ask the vet if he has any idea about the breed or mixed breed of your dog.
  3. The vet can do a DNA test, but this is rather expensive. This is the only way to find out the breed/mixed breed of your dog.
  4. Purchase a home DNA kit at most local pet shops or online.
  5. Do the test yourself at home.
