It could be a burgandy philodendron.

i believe you have a very healthy rubber tree/plant. These make great house plants but can be grown outdoors also.

It's a burgundy rubber plant, thats been pruned to be short and stocky. I have one, that I've allowed to grow tall, and its gorgeous that way too.
