First Prize Brownies

I've been reluctant to share this family secret but have thought it was the least I could do after gleaning so many great recipes from this site. My apologies to my sister Erin the Caterer as this has become one of her signature sweets. My family is "NUTS" about these.

Gleaned from an Old "Holy Ghost Society" Cookbook - Sonoma County Fair (1985)

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (do not substitute)
  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 tsp. real vanilla
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallow
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions

Melt butter, chocolate chips and chocolate and set aside to cool. Beat eggs until thick and lemon colored (most important part) Add sugar gradually while beating. Add cooled chocolate mixture and vanilla. Gently fold in flour, marshmallows and nuts. Pour into well greased 9 x 9 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Easily doubled for 9 x 12 inch pan. Oh My these are so-ooooo good!
