My wife and I purchased a bus and we want to remove the school name from the side of the bus. Does anybody have any idea how to do this without destroying the paint under it?

Thanks

Well I tried a small spot and it did start to take off the letters but it also turned the paint an off color so I did not do any more.

I think I will have to try something else.

The lettering is painted on. I will try the oven cleaner and let you know what happends.

Thanks a lot!

If the lettering is decals, you can also use acetone to remove them. I have used this method, although on a much smaller scale, and it has worked wonderfully.

if it's painted on try using a cheap oven cleaner. My brother bought a van that had lettering painted on & removed it with cheap oven cleaner & it didn't hurt the paint underneath.

Are they decals or is it painted? If it is decals my husband and I removed decals from his pickup using a blowdryer (to warm up the glue) and a plastic putty knife to scrape them off.
