A good rule of thumb is 6 weeks old, but make sure they are eating good on their own before you give them away :)

First of all I want to say Cheers to Katklaw777 for her great response. Eight weeks is what most vets recommend before giving them away. And her explanations for handling and checking their eyes was very important. Also make sure they have had a good vet check up and any initial shots the vet recommends.

If possible get them accustomed to being around other cats, dogs, kids and people.
And also please please please follow Katklaw777's suggestion for finding their new homes. If you don't have any friends or family that you trust and want one or more, then screen your prospoctive new owners as if you were giving away one of your children. Make sure the people have had cats and kittens before. Make sure they will be keeping the cat inside. Make sure they are financially able to keep up with vet bills and vaccinations.

If they have children, have them bring the children with them so that you can observe how the child(ren) behave with the kitten and how they handle it. What kind of dog do they have? You don't want the kittens to become doggy snacks.
And finally, please do get your cat spayed so that you don't have anymore kittens come into the world.

Hi, Six weeks is the youngest, but eight weeks is recommended. They should be fully weaned by then. After about ten days you should handle and play with them a lot to socialize them (wash hands before and after). Watch eyes for crustiness or yellowish discharge. Many kittens get an eye infection that has to have medicine from the vet.
Please find them good homes with people you know or trust and not strangers unless they are well screened and get the mom fixed so there are no more unwanted kittens. There are too many in this world now! Hope this helps.
