I have a delicious chili recipe that calls for Walmart's canned Red Sauce. My Walmart no longer stocks this sauce. Does anyone know how I can find out the recipe for this Red Sauce? Thanks in advance for any help.

Here is my SUMMERTIME CROCK-POT CHILI
2 lbs lean ground beef
1-1/2 cups chopped onion
1/4 cup chili powder
1 T. paprika
1 T. ground cumin
1 t. garlic powder
1 T. dried leaf oregano
1/4 to 1/2 t. cayenne pepper (to your taste-this is HOT)
1 t. salt
Fresh ground black pepper
1 (10 oz) can Red Sauce (Wal-Mart brand)
1 (10 oz) Ro-Tel tomatoes
1 (16 oz can pinto beans, undrained
1 T. balsamic vinegar

In a large skillet, brown ground beef and onion: drain excess fat. Add chili powder, paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt and fresh ground pepper; simmer stirring occasionally about 3 to 4 minutes. Add red sauce, Ro-tel tomatoes and beans; simmer about 5 minutes and then add the balsamic vinegar. Pour into crock-pot and heat on low about 2 hours or until the gang arrives.
Note: Good to serve with chips in a bowl, or on hot dogs or hamburger buns, to make sloppy joes.

My walmart has stopped stocking many of the GV brand of items...much to my dismay. Their Red sauce is the same as ElPaso (or similar) Enchiladas sauce.

We are very disappointed in our Wal Mart the last couple of months. The shelves are always bare and of course the item you need isn't there, however I have never used their Red Sauce, will have to look and see if our store has it. How about posting your "delicious Chili" recipe?

Here's what I use after realizing that I could make the red enchilada sauce myself and save some bucks.

4 cups
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon cumin
2 tablespoons mild chili powder
4 tablespoons flour
4 cups chicken broth
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

1. Mix spices and flour in olive oil in saucepan over medium heat until fragrant and starting to brown.
2. Slowly add chicken broth and tomato sauce and cook and stir until thickened.
3. Use as red sauce over any beef, cheese or poultry enchiladas.
4. A good mild sauce than can be easily"warmed" up by adding jalapenos, chipotles or other spices.

Happy cooking! BeckiB

Thanks Tracey...I know about enchilada sauce as that is what this "Red Sauce" was next to. Maybe is was the same thing in the can just a different label. My husband said it probably was just about the same thing maybe a little less chili powder or some other spice in it. I appreciate your feedback.

I don't have a recipe. I'm trying to figure out what this red sauce is. Is it an enchilada sauce? That's what red sauce makes me think of.

Is there maybe another product stocked near where you used to get this red sauce. They normally stock their brand near the brand name product. If you could identify the brand name you could check other stores for their store brand and try those. Good luck.
