There is a shampoo called Daragen hair repair shampoo it is very expensive 17.00 per bottle but it is excellent for hair growth also use mayonnaise and egg conditioner home made every two weeks. Black ladies what we have to do is to stop perming our hair perms are chemicals we need to wear our hair natural - nappy as they say and I am happy and nappy in the Nati. My hair is growing like crazy I stop perming it. There is a good hair grease called Dax it almost looks black but it has my hair looking real thick also make sure you take vitamins B.

I used to have a lot of thick, long, black hair, always getting it complimented. But then my hair started falling out from what I believe was birth control pills and stress. Now I'm trying so hard to grow it because I also cut it more after getting my damaged from highlights. I take biotin and omega 3 everyday. Also every week when I go to do my hair, I rinse it with apple cider vinegar, leave it for 5-10 minutes then take it out and style. The best thing to do is lay off flat irons and hair blowers. Just roll your hair and once it's dry, either wrap it and go back under the drier for an extra 10 minutes or roll it back up with bobby pins to get waves. You can also use herbs like nettle, rosemary, and horsetail and make sort of like a tea then mix with the vinegar. Good luck

If your hair is thick, curly and short, TRY THIS! Eat some gummie worms (any kind) the gelatin helps!
and don't put any thing in your hair but water and/or conditioner
When you have tangles in your hair, take a piece of your hair and comb it from the TIP First! NEVER COMB YOUR HAIR FROM THE ROOT TO THE TIP! I WISH YOU THE BEST!

Take rice (yes rice, any sort) wash the rice really well (of course saving the water). Take the water that you washed the rice with, and put it in your hair. Leave it overnight. Next morning, rinse it out. This method results in healthy hair!
Honey, egg yokes and a spoon of olive oil, mix it all well on dry hair. Apply it all over massaging the scalp. Leave it on for an hour and TA TA! Your hair will grow in no time!

Use Fruit

Some people would never think to do it but use fruit. I mixed together fruit cocktail, mayo, olive oil, chocolate cocoa. Mix together in a blender. Put on while around the house with a shower cap for about 30-1hr. Dripping might occur and it smells kinda bad too, but it works great. You can shampoo afterward also. Being of my heritage of White, Black, and Native American my hair is kinda funny. It's wavy and can be straight at times. It grows long then dries and breaks from (store bought) shampoos and conditioners. If you read the ingredients on those things you dont even know what most of them are. I'm not going to use them anymore. Make your own. So you know what you put in it. Some of my ancestors and cousins have hair have hair all the way down to the knees. They massage their scalp a lot and not to many different hairstyles. It can cause strain and breakage. Try more french buns (bobby pins are the key). So you dont have to use those scrunchies. When it comes to brushing and combing do your hair once a day and move on. Keep your hands out of it.
Also a great spray better than anything else especially if you have hair like mine of thinner: 1 tsp honey 4 cups water blend fill in water bottles. use this whenever your hair feels dry or breaking. If your hair is really dry condition everyday. Remember shampooing can dry your hair. So cut it out till you really need it again just condition. Another thing keep your hair pulled up and out of the way.

I went to a chinese herbal doctor the other day for my thinning hair, he gave me some tea which is disgusting, but told me to brush my hair everyday which contradicts what some other people have been saying about not brushing hair because it breaks it etc. He also told me to rub ginger on my scalp like someone else mentioned above, havent tried it yet though.

Hey I just wanted to give you lovely ladies a piece of advice. I too have a hard time growing my hair, but I'm having considerable success with natural products (kelp, essential oils, good diet, lots of scalp massage, etc). However, in the meantime while my hair is growing I couldn't bear to look at my short tresses anymore. I found a temporary solution, for those times when I just ache for that long hair RIGHT NOW but don't want the dangerous solution of extensions.
Jessica Simpson has produced some clip in extensions, for very reasonable prices (most stores carry these for about 100 bucks - and they are worth it, they last forever if taken good care of). These are very easy to use , take less than sixty seconds to put it, and give you the long full bodied hair you ache for. They are undetectable, and make you feel so femenine and best of all they're no damage to your own hair. This is only a temporary solution, but it really builds your confidence while you're waiting for your own silken tresses to grow.

Save me from this miserable situation.
I love long hair. I always dream of having long hair but my hair doesn't grow that much. The growth of my hair is very slow and it is very thin. I am very much worried of this. I am losing my confidence, feeling guilty to go out. The length of my hair is half and more to the shoulders. If I didn't cut my hair for 4 years, I got only this much. but if I want to have thick, strong and long hair? So you please help me in having the faster growth in a natural and harmless way.

The problem is that my parents won't let me try all these weird recipes, and also my hair is really thick and curly! Please if you could help. Thanks

I read your statement and I have pointers to grow your hair.
- Read ingredients! ONLY USE NATURAL HAIR PRODUCTS this will definitely speed hair growth!
- Don't use products with alcohol, petroleum jelly and mineral oil
- Only brush and comb hair when necessary, even then use WIDE tooth combs. This insures way less breakage.
- Wear non stressing hairstyles; no tight braids, ponytails, weaves, etc.
- Wash hair and DEEP condition at least once a week
- You can also change your diet, try more fish, eggs, peanuts, green leafy veggies, oysters, clams, things like that.
- Also I have some recipes and essential oils you MUST try. This has worked TREMENDOUSLY on my hair and the exact thing that's happening to you already happened to me. I've been growing my hair since July, since I started all over and my hair is past my shoulders now. So, OK here we go.
Hair Loss Tonic
- 10 drops rosemary oil
- 10 drops of lavender
- 5 drops of basil
- 4 ounces of jojoba oil
Apply to scalp
Blends Recipe For Hair Growth
- 2 drops thyme oil(thyme vulgaris)
- 2 drops atlas cedarwood essential oil(cedrus atlantica)
- 3 drops rosemary essential oil (rosmarunus afficinalis)
- 3 drops lavender essential oil (laveandula angustifolia)
- 3 ml Tbsp. Jojoba oil
- 20 ml grapeseed oil
Mix well thyme cedarwood, lavender and rosemary essential oils in a small glass jar. After that, add the remaining oils. Mix thoroughly. Massage recipe into your scalp for at least 2 minutes every night. Wrap head in a warm towl to enhance treatment. Leave on for 1 hour then wash out. Do for 2 weeks then take 1 week break then repeat.
Sample Blend For Hair Conditioner
- 1 Tbsp. jojoba carrier oil
- 3 drops rosemary
Mix in small bowl. Wet hair with warm water and then apply conditioner. Let sit for 15 - 30 minutes then rinse hair as normal.
These hair recipes were tested on alorecia areata patients, this disease causes balding and balding spots. These patients followed the same procedure and only 40% grew near half their hair back. The other percentage grew ALL or almost all their original length hair back so I back this up 100%
Remember to always use NATURAL products on your hair! Follow these recipes and HAPPY HAIR GROWING!

Try boiling nettles & rosemary leaves with a half cup of water about 3-5 table spoons place as a leave in after every wash. Hair will gey extremely thick, oil scalp with rosemary oil, make a conditioner out of avocado, garlic, eggs, and mayonnaise massage in scalp and hair. Leave in about 15-30 minutes with cap under hea,t or wrap with a hot towel for penetration. If you have any other questions about hair contact me tallakpo AT yahoo.com. I'm black Dominican, who receive comment's on my hair all the time. God bless you. Have a great day!

I too had hair loss two years back due to dieting and poor nutrition. Later I lost almost all of my thick hair which grew during my pregnancy. I started using hair energizer for about more that 8 months. All my hair grew back. It worked for mine. The only problem taking the medication was it would make you feel very nauseated. I couldn't bear that feeling, so stopped taking it. My hair once again has started to fall. I was looking for some other options, but these vitamins really worked. Except for the nauseous feeling, I would want to go back to it. Hair Energizer Vitamins for Hair Nutrients for healthy hair growth

I have Lupus and because my hormones went bonkers I lost all my hair. I literally went bald in like 3 months. I had not a hair in sight. There is something that is called aceite de moska that you could buy @ a botanical or even a beauty supply store. I even once seen it @ Rite aid. Well you apply it everyday, and wash your hair like 1 or twice every 1-2 weeks and with in a month or so you should see some results. You could also mix it with avocado oil for better results. Good Luck to all I mean cause I know how tragic it feels to lose your hair. I mean mine's just reached my ears and it's growing.

Ok... buy apple juice from any food store... and keep your scalp/hair soaked with it, whenever you can (before going to sleep). Every morning, rinse your hair/scalp with water and soap... TRUST ME, you will begin to see a BIG difference in a few days!

Hey All, first thing you need to do is stop thinking about hair loss. Keep always one thing in mind, there are many people on earth who are famous today without hair.
Rub Onion and Ginger on your head for 15 mins for 2 months twice a day. you will see a fantastic response
Drink lots and lots of Water.
Mix Camphor in Coconut oil and massage it well for 20 mins and wash your hair with warm water.
I have tried all these and have seen difference.
All the Very Best.
Editor's Note: Both of these sound very odd and we have no way to check whether these would work. Has anyone else heard of these kind of treatments?

I've been dying my hair since I was 14 or 15. I'm 19 now and about two years ago I made the mistake in cutting off my hair and ever since then I cannot get it to grow. I recently trimmed it in order to get rid of some more damage and it just will not grow. I've done everything bad to my hair that's possible, color, highlights, weaves, you name it I've done it. For the past three to five months I've stopped coloring and everything else to my hair. I just want it to grow. I can't stand to have short hair, I feel like a little boy. So if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to share! My email is aquestionable23 AT aol.com Thanks!

When I was young I use to have really thick curly hair, and my mom decided for me to start getting my hair permed, I was nine at the time now I'm sixteen. About a year ago I noticed that I didn't have as much hair as i use to, it was the perm. The woman who use to do my hair used a strong perm. It was thinning my hair and breaking it. I had to cut it really short. The perm is almost grown out but I feel like my hair is growing so slowly. A piece of advice, if you have good hair don't perm it or make sure its a soft perm.

My hair fell out and literally stopped growing when I was diagnosed with hypothyroid disease. So I was treated by my doctor for this.
But my hair still wouldn't grow back. I am intersted in herbs and among many herbs recommended for hair loss, was one called horsetail.
I took two capsules three times a day and my hair started to grow in and actually grown in three weeks.
I thought it was my imagination too, but my hairdresser was amazed. Another lady overhead me and tried it with the same results. However, another lady tried it with no results.
Herbs are medicine and should be treated seriously. I was desperate and bought my horsetail capsules at Whole Foods Market.
Also, 1000mg of biotin a day really helps hair from falling out - my sister recommended this to me and it works.
Good luck!

Grr..Not much has worked for me, but considering I have really thick, unruly, coarse hair, I have found brushing it daily with a boar bristle brush helps a lot.It pulls out the layer of natural oils and distrubutes into hair helping with moisture and growth. The suggestion about the birth control pills is maybe not a good idea. The hormones in the pills for some people can make their hair grow, but will make hair fall out for others. I have been taking BC pills for a while now and it has totally made my hair fall out. My doctor is taking me off them so we can see if my hair will grow back. I've been taking an amino acid (protein) supplement, drinking lots of water, and using mane n tail shampoo. It all seems to be helping along with stopping the BC pills. I'll have a much better idea of how it is working in about 6 months. BTW, Wendy I feel for ya, girl. I have the same worries that you do. I hate when my boss walks behind me while I'm sitting at my desk. I feel like my bald area must be glaring at him. It's probably not as bad as you think. I know I make it worse in my mind than it really is. But try taking some vitamins or a protein supplement. Also, have you tried women's Rogaine? That has helped me. Didn't totally make the hair come back, but it did regrow some of it. Mostly, I think eliminating the root of the problem is the key. Sounds like yours was stress. Mine is the BC pills. Good luck!! (Oh, and the amino acid supplement is called AG Pro by Miller Pharmaceuticals. It's kinda hard to find, but I got it from amazon.com. It was recommended on another post on the internet and seemed to be working for the user.)

Hi, I'm a 20 year old male. I use to have some what long hair. Due to using lots of chemicals and products, my hair began to thin at the beginning of my scalp. Now my hair is short but still thin at the same spot. Its been about 2 years or so and I've tried everything in order to get that bald spot covered up. Nothing seems to work. In fact, using Fructis for my hair made it even worse. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Someone suggested making onions in liquid form and running it through my hair. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am trying to find out the same thing and I learned a few things along the way. Vitamins and proteins are very important to hair growth. Your hair is made up of dead protein. So if you take some b vitamins like b6, it is said to help promote faster and healthier hair growth. There is also beta-carotenes, biotin, and green vegtables. I know there are more, but that's all that I can think of at the moment. Also it's good to stimulate the scalp, by brushing it alot at night before bed and doing a scalp massage. It really does help... thanks

Hi,
I had a bad highlighting experience plus some idiot took a razor to my thick course hair I spent two years growing. I had to drastically cut it all off to get rid of the damage and help get my natural color back. I have dark hair and the highlights made me blonde. Plus this idiot kept the bleach on about 40 minutes and put me under the dryer. Needless to say I am suffering with growing out my hair. I use hair vitamins and eat foods with a lot of protein. Eat meat, orange and green vegetables, drink plenty of water. The vitamins also help my nails grow and my skin look great. Any vitamins containing a good amount of biotin and niacin are great. Also, use good shampoo and conditioner. No shampoo will help grow your hair. Your hair is dead. You have to start from the inside of your body. Hair grows from the follicles in your scalp. Do daily scalp massages using the pads of your fingers, not nails. The shampoo and conditioner is important for the quality of your hair. I need a lot of moisture. I use the Alterna Caviar line and Short and Sexy Soy Milk. Another thing to try is drinking soy milk. You can buy it in the grocery store. Try Silk, I think it's delicious.
I'm sorry you are going through this agony too. I am making everyone around me crazy. I just hope it grows in right. I can't take any more haircuts and texturizing hoping I have the right shape. I know my hair will grow, it's living through it.
Yours in hair hell,
Pam

At our beauty shop we learned to use full strength Listerine. The regular one. After you rinse real good put the spray from a spray bottle all over the head. Take and massage the head for a few minutes. Then roll or blow dry leaving the listerine on your head. The smell will go away. The doctor told us this was not good to use on our throats so we found this really works for the hair. Mom had open heart surgery and her hair came out bad. We washed once a week and sprayed her head. Now all her hair is back. Good luck... Tonya

Maybe Rogaine would help you. I believe it used to be by prescription only, but now you can buy it over the counter, at Wal-Mart. When you say your hair fell out from chemicals, was it chemotherapy or just tints? I wish you the best!

Trim just the tips of your hair during the New moon, each month. New moon lasts for 2 weeks as it 'grows' , then becomes full moon and spends next 2 weeks 'decreasing'. Trimming your hair during the new moon phase will help it grow faster, on the full moon will make it fuller and on the decreasing phase will make it stop or slow down the growth. It all has something to do with the gravitational pull of the moon on bodies of water on earth and our bodies are made up of mostly water. To check all this out for yourself, just get a copy of The Farmer's Almanac and read about the moon phases. And it really DOES work! I learned this from a girl I met who had hair down to her hips, when I asked her how long did it take to grow it that length, she told me just 2 years, then she told me about trimming by the new moon. I tried it and found it does work. Not only that but by trial & error, I've also learned getting a perm or haircut during the 'growing' moon makes it turn out MUCH better. Good Luck! Oh, eating protein helps it grow faster & stronger too. Send us a photo in a few months & let us know what you tried and what worked best for you, ok? Thanks...

If you can get a package of birth control pills, put the whole pack into a bottle of shampoo. Use the shampoo like you normaly do. You will start to see the hair growth before the bottle of shampoo is all used up, I don't know why or how this works. I only know (from expeience) that it does.

Go to health store and buy oil of rosemary. This helps grow hair. Also if they have plenty of merchandise you can look for a special shampoo with rosemary in it. I did it for my younger daughter. She looks much better now.

I would try Pre-natal vitamins. When I was pregnant my hair and nails grew like crazy. I know it was due to the vitamins. You can buy them over the counter in most drug stores, maybe even Walmart.
