Combine flours, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the center. Lightly beat egg, stir in melted margarine, sugar and milk. Pour all at once into the flour well. Stir just to moisten the ingredients with about 12-15 circular strokes that scrape the bottom of the bowl; batter should look lumpy. Fill greased of lined 2 1/2 inch muffin cups about 2/3 full. Place sugar cube on muffin and top with 1 teaspoon of your favorite jam or marmalade. Bake 350 degrees F for 25 minutes or until browned. Makes 9 muffins.
