(And the reds are less popular.) But buy a test bottle to taste to see if it was well kept and not turned by the heat or other bad handling. Post By WONDERING (Guest Post) (03/24/2006) An unopened bottle of wine can last for years if properly stored and is a corked bottle of wine. It should be stored on its side so the cork remains in contact with the wine. If it is one with a cap, it would depend on whether it is a fortified wine or a normal one. Tell him to stop being so cheap and buy a new bottle of very good wine that he will want to drink ALL of, and anyway, there is being frugal, then there just plain old CHEAP. If it was corked well and placed in the refrigerator, it might still be good. Taste it and see--you'll know pretty quickly if it survived well or not Best wishes
