How long is wine good for? My friend has a bottle from last Thanksgiving, it's September now, he says its fine to drink. I disagree. Who's right?

I opened a bottle of pinot noir on Tues. and want to drink it today, which is Thurs. Is it still good?

If its red, put it in the fridge and it will last at least 3 days, take it out 1/2 an hour before drinking so the temperature comes back down again.

Just a note - red wine ages better than most whites, which should be drunk young - For that reason I have been able to get really good deals on reads at the 99 Cent Store and other bargain outlets! (And the reds are less popular.) But buy a test bottle to taste to see if it was well kept and not turned by the heat or other bad handling. The older red wine is more often than not BETTER than the younger stuff you get normally, as it mellows with time.

An unopened bottle of wine can last for years if properly stored and is a corked bottle of wine. It should be stored on its side so the cork remains in contact with the wine.

If it is one with a cap, it would depend on whether it is a fortified wine or a normal one. It still should last for a year or two, I'd think.

Your friend will definately be saving on the cost of embarming fluid if he drinks it.
Tell him to stop being so cheap and buy a new bottle of very good wine that he will want to drink ALL of, and anyway, there is being frugal, then there just plain old CHEAP.
Cheers,

Ang

If it is an "opened" bottle from last November, I wouldn't drink it!

If it is a red wine, which shouldn't be refridgerated it is only good for about a week after being open, whilte wine is a little longer, but not by much.

Best of Luck

I agree. Taste is everything with wine. If it tastes good, drink it. If not, toss it.

It depends on the wine-how and where it was stored-how it was corked while it was stored.
If it was corked well and placed in the refrigerator, it might still be good. Taste it and see--you'll know pretty quickly if it survived well or not
Best wishes
