Yellow Finch and Her Nest |
We watched a yellow finch build a nest inside this birdhouse on our backyard deck; it was a beautiful sight seeing this yellow finch go back and forth building the nest then watching her nurture the baby birds; we even watched her teach the young birds to fly. The nest is empty now.

I have two yellow finches, I don't know how to tell the male from the female. One is slightly larger than the other. We also have a little one come. It is not as colorful as the other two. We have a thistle feeder. Jane

After examining the picture more closely, there was a snake coiled up inside the birdhouse; the baby bird had its beak wide open; it was scary; we didn't actually see the snake except in the "zoomed-in" photo.
