Hungarian Layered Potatoes

I am told this is called Rakott Krumpli, though I'm not sure that's accurate. It's a good, basic economy dish and very flavorful. Increase or decrease amounts to your taste.


  • 8 large potatoes, sliced
  • 6 hard boiled eggs, sliced
  • 1 lb. kielbasa or garlic sausage, sliced
  • sour cream


Dot the bottom of a dutch oven with butter. Put down a layer of potato slices, then a layer of sliced eggs, and a layer of sliced kielbasa. You can dot it with a little sour cream if you like. Repeat the layers until it is all used up, ending with a layer of potatoes. Smother with sour cream. Bake at 350 degrees F until heated through and bubbly, about 40 minutes.
